Blurring the line between frontside and all-mountain, the 2025 Atomic Cloud Q12 is a wider-bodied carving ski that harnesses race-like technology in a friendly, versatile shape. Perfect for skiers who want to excel in a frontside capacity, the high-performance ceiling and sturdy build lend itself to maximum edge grip and powerful stability. Considering most skiers spend their time on groomers, an accessible option with race-inspired technique and all terrain performance makes a lot of sense for a lot of different skiers. With a grippy, planted feel, advanced level skiers will love reaping the benefits of this frontside ski.
When we look specifically at the construction, we see where the higher-end performance stems from. Blending both lightweight materials and advanced technology, the result is an accessible ski that can achieve both nimble and powerful maneuvers. Built with a Flite wood core to start things off, this combination of wood delivers a supple, yet flexible feel and allows for effortless maneuverability. Amplifying the torsional stiffness and level of power, a titanal layer is added to the mix. What’s impressive about this is, while some skis in this category feel quite heavy and demanding, the approach to the build here keeps it very manageable. Atomic’s Carbon Revoshock further stabilizes through the placement of carbon plates in an elastomer laminate. This specific technology filters out unwanted vibrations and does an incredible job smoothing and dampening for a super consistent feel from tip to tail. This is especially beneficial when fresh corduroy turns to chopped up crud and the Cloud Q12 has what it takes to handle the change in conditions. Tester Danielle Nichols highlighted this ski’s range of capabilities saying “this ski surprised me. It was surprisingly zippy and fun in big soft bumps and so easy to maneuver on soft chopped up groomers.”
Looking at the shape, it’s clear where this ski belongs. With a flat, directional tail and fully cambered profile, frontside terrain is its bread and butter. A long effective edge and no rocker profile, the amount of edge grip is exceptional. The waist width is where the versatility comes in. At 83 mm underfoot, it’s certainly a wider-bodied carving ski when lined up next to more dedicated frontside skis. In the 159 cm length, it generates a 12.8-meter turn radius, which is impressively short given the waist width. As for the dimensions, the 130 mm waist in the tip plus a rounded, spoon-style shape welcomes soft snow performance and rounds out the range of capabilities here.
The 2025 Atomic Cloud Q12 is a great frontside tool for skiers looking for a high-performance ceiling in a more accessible package. Built to hold up to the demands of skilled skiers, the all-terrain shape and lightweight construction allows intermediates to hop onboard and build technique. Given the wider-bodied format and versatile use, this ski checks a lot of boxes for skiers who find themselves on groomers and frontside terrain.
