2026 Elan Wildcat 83 TI

ski test sidebar

New for 2026, the Elan Wildcat 83 Ti will charm the socks off of intermediate and advanced skiers who spend most of their time on groomers. With a quick energy and a smooth character, these front side and all-mountain skis can handle intermediates through experts who are looking for clean and crisp carving to go along with some soft snow performance and adventure. With a new build and shape versus the outgoing Wildcat skis, these new 83 Ti’s are smoother in flex and more playful in the tail to accentuate an all-mountain flair.

Elan is able to build skis in a very interesting way because they use asymmetry in their construction. With a laminated wood core consisting of poplar and beech, Elan uses a mono Ti laminate along the inside edge of each ski. With a right/left-specific build, this puts more emphasis and power on the downhill edge where it’s needed while leaving the uphill portion of the ski more flexible and amenable to go along. This makes it super easy to get more power with less weight and stiffness. The skis get an EL 9.0 system binding which is going to be just fine for most skiers in this range. It keeps it light and easy to use. Tester Ashley Turner notes that the skis excel in “Firm/hard pack groomers would be great if this ski. I think it would be much more responsive in these conditions.”

The Rocker / Camber / Rocker profile of the 2026 Elan Wildcat 83 TI

The asymmetry carries into the shape and profile as well, with Elan’s Amphibio rocker profile doubling up the uniqueness of the ski. By placing more rocker on the outside of the shovel and more camber on the inside, skiers can get from one turn to the next with an uncommon level of smoothness and ease of use. This makes for a cohesive feel as the skis do not feel hooky or grabby at all—they just run nice and clean and parallel with ease. Megan Papineau states “So I gave this an 8 even though other ratings were low because this feels like a great ski for a beginner, intermediate or formally advanced skier who has aged into pretty groomer turns. You can carve, but I felt it was super easy to pop out of the turn for me, so it was unreliable in that sense but if you’re not looking to charge I think you could have a great time with this ski.”

While ease of use is a good thing for beginners and intermediates, it can also limit top end feel and performance. This Wildcat 83 Ti is a great option for progressing skies who are looking for smoothness and confidence without being overly demanding. There’s a big audience here, as most skiers do spend most of their time on groomers, making this a ski that should do pretty well this year.

What's your first impression of this ski? How did it feel?
Super fun! But it didn't love high speeds or aggressive skiing.
For what type of terrain would you recommend this ski? Why does it perform well in that terrain?
Groomers, trees, good all-around ski, maybe not great powder ski but has some flotation potential.
What's the appropriate ability level and/or style for this ski? Why is it appropriate for that type of skier?
Intermediate to expert who doesn't need to charge.
If you could change anything about these skis, what would you change and why?
I wish it held up better on faster speeds and higher edge angles.
