2027 Atomic Maverick 105 CTI

The 2027 Atomic Maverick 105 CTi gets a new look for this year but returns otherwise unchanged. This mid-fat freeride ski is a great option for those who spend most of their time either in or seeking softer snow and more aggressive skiing. Since it’s not too hefty or overpowering, there are many skiers who will benefit from the Maverick’s well-rounded and intuitive nature. By blending a modern freeride shape with an athletic influence, this 105 CTi has a strong mixture of high performance and low stress. When you tip it up on edge it sure feels composed and powerful, but at the same time, you’re welcome to throw it sideways and get a drifty and playful feel.

Built with a wood core mixed from poplar and ash, the skis also get Atomic’s CTi mix of carbon and titanal. This adds energy and power to the construction, giving the ski its high end and high-performance feel. Due to this mix of construction techniques, the Maverick 105 CTi does a great job of vacillating between turn shapes, styles, conditions and terrain. That fact was not lost on tester Steve Sulin who notes that the Maverick is “OVERALL A GREAT SKI ON ALL CONDITIONS. HARD TO MIX SNOW HANDLED IT ALL.” This makes for a ski that will appeal to a broad audience, and for a company trying to sell a bunch of skis, this is a very good thing. The Maverick isn’t too hefty, either, with the 185 cm length tipping the scale at about 2050 g/ski.

It’s tough to do a better job at mixing taper shape and rocker profile than what is found in this ski. We get a longer rocker in the tips and tails to go along with about 65% camber underfoot. We also combine their HRZN 3D tech into the shape of the shovel, giving the Maverick 105 a lot of float for not having a ton of width. The 185 creates a 19-meter turn radius—plenty for aggressive big mountain skiing without losing agility and energy for tighter turns or more technical zones. Tester Jameson Halnon states that “Knowing photographers were in line I was trying to disk quick poppy turns and deep carving as quickly as possible, and the CTI delivered on both! Fun as f*ck was the first thing i said to ski companions. While this isn’t in Atomics Backland family, I’d love to throw a pin binding on this for nosedive mornings and spring corn off the summit.” The mix of turn shape and style is a huge positive when it comes to the shape of the ski and its intended use and style.

That equates to a large target market for this ski, especially since you don’t have to be a super-expert to get it moving. It’s approachable for the width and level but still allows for aggressive and hard-charging skiing. We’ve been big fans of this ski for the past few seasons, and there’s no reason to see that change in the 2027 realm.
