2027 Rossignol Hero MT TI CAM

With a slight update to the tip technology, the Rossignol Hero Elite MT Ti is a refreshing carver with a mid-width shape that can hook into turns with ease while providing excellent edge grip and energy at the finish. Ther’s a bit of a tail shape difference here, too, making this ski just a bit more accessible for progressing skiers without taking much, if any, off the top. This is still very much an advanced and expert level ski that can hold on ice with the best of them. While some skiers may find them to be versatile in terms of turn shape and style, the overall versatility of this ski is somewhat limited as these are front side specialists.

These skis are still built with a poplar wood core as a start. They use a titanal beam laminate in the central portion of the ski, but they refrain from the dual-metal build used in the ST and LT versions. We also get their Carbon Alloy Matrix to stiffen the ski and add responsiveness. The change here is the implementation of the Power Tip that adds fluidity and smoothness to the initiation phase of the ski. It’s fairly stiff, but not overpowering, especially since the weight is kept at least somewhat low. It’s more of a sporty frontside carver than anything else, but that’s what makes it so fun. Tester Sam Reed states: “These were more versatile than I would have expected - they survived ungroomed terrain just fine. Decent acceleration, good edge-to-edge, but a bit more of an imbalance in tip/tail stiffness than I would have liked (soft tips, very stiff tail) - it made it a bit more challenging to throw them sideways and bleed speed than other skis in the class. I was impressed with the edge hold on pure ice on Gondolier - conditions were questionable, but the skis were not!”

The tail shape has just a bit more taper than it used to, and now more closely resembles that of the Forza 60, putting these two skis even closer together. With a slight reduction in waist width, the MT has a 73 mm underfoot zone to go along with 128 mm tips and 111 mm tails. This split generates a 16-meter turn radius in the 178. That makes it very turny and very precise. With minimal rocker in the tips, these skis have a lot of camber and that adds to the pep and determination of the ski to complete a carved turn. Tester Rich O’Brien notes that “These are a fun radius cheater ski. Really easy to tip on edge and run out medium to long turns. Can close shorter turns with effort, but there is no real need to. These love to go side to side. These skis are a lot of fun. Not the same as a full cheater GS ski, but an amazing all day driver. Doesn’t require you to really hammer into the turns but reacts well to input.”

We see a lot of ski instructors and other technical skiers on the MT here in Vermont and it makes a lot of sense. You get the grip, energy, and quickness that is needed without the overbearing demand. This blend supports skiers without overwhelming them with weight and unwieldy power. As a result, the Hero Elite MT Ti makes great sense for those who are looking for maximum efficiency and reactivity without being taken for a ride.
