2026 Men's Powder Ski Comparison
If you find yourself in waist-deep snow more often than not, first off, well done! Next, you’ll need a set of skis on this list. Powder skis are specific tools for specific snow conditions, basically existing on the polar opposite plane as a front side carving ski. Each are amazing and perfectly suited to their own application, but for many skiers, the lure of bottomless powder puts the skis on this wall at the forefront of dreams and imaginations. These skis have a lot of rocker, width, and shape to them that’s all fine-tuned to keep the ski on top of any depth of snow. While there are some here that are more hard-charging and aggressive, the bulk of the skis on this list are drifty, smeary, floaty, and fun. Enjoy!

|---|---|---|---|---|

Overview:
As part of the Zero series, the ARV 116 JJ UL is a rare and specific ski set for skiers who are basically backcountry freestylers. With a light weight and highly flexible nature, there’s not a ton of room for hard charging and aggressive skiing, but if you are into making smeary and drifty turns in super-deep snow, this is a great place to be. With similar measurements to the Whitewalker 116 but with a more rounded shape, the ARV 116 JJ UL is a bit less aggressive and more focused on efficiency and playfulness for more skiers. Since it’s not in the pro model division, there’s more real-world application, especially for those who prioritize light weight, agility, and ease of use. Built with a caruba wood core and a laminate matrix, the skis have a bit of pep to them, but overall, they’re pretty darn light and flexy.
Who it's For:
Backcountry oriented skiers who want a mix of light and creative. You need the flotation but don’t want anything remotely hefty or rugged.

Overview:
As a pro model designed in conjunction with Karl Fostvedt, the Reckoner KF is a fun, carbon-powered twin tip with a lot of symmetry, balance, and creativity built in. Constructed with an aspen wood core, the ski gets both carbon spectral braiding and carbon boost braid technology. The spectral, we’ve talked about a lot. The cross-hatching of carbon stringers allows the engineers to create a playful and torsionally compliant flex in different parts of the skis while the boost braid is more longitudinal, providing good feedback and energy when skiing more aggressively. At the same time, these skis continue to be light-ish, hovering around the 2000-gram mark in the 184 cm length. We get a long turn radius too, at 23-meters to go along with a relatively symmetrical shape featuring a drop of only 3 mm from tip to tail. This makes the ski balanced and ready for freestyle fun and performance.
Who it's For:
Ideally, it’s for Karl. If you identify as a Karl-level skier, go for it!

Overview:
There are quite a few pro-model skis in this line, and the Whitewalker 116 is Sammy Carlson’s. With a unique shape and a lightweight feel, it definitely has a unique and personalized look to it that blurs the lines between touring, freestyle, and deep powder skiing. Built with a caruba wood core, carbon stringers, and carbon underfoot, the Whitewalker 116 prioritizes mobility and energy. Armada’s Smear Tech in the tips and tails allow for a decisive and floaty feel with less edge involved in the snow. This is a dramatic and pointy shape to the ski that allows for endless creative options in a variety of snow conditions and terrain. With a 4 mm drop in tip to tail taper, these skis are well-balanced and freestyle focused.
Who it's For:
As a pro model, it’s for Sammy Carlson. If you want a light, fun twin tip with a very unique shape and style, this could work well for you.

Overview:
With a new graphic for 2026, the Bent Chetler 120 is now in year two of the re-design featuring ash wood in the center and a lack of carbon. This gives the ski a sturdy feel even while having a lighter weight and easy to use shape and profile. The 184 produces a weight of about 1800 grams and a 19-meter turn radius so it’s not overly demanding or hard to use. We get a 9 mm drop in tip to tail width which keeps this more on the directional side of the spectrum. Like the Armada Smear Tech and Swivel Tech bevels, the Atomic uses HRZN Tech which uses similar styling and shaping of the tips and tails to provide better flotation. We do got some decent camber here, so there’s more of an energetic feel than some of the other flatter skis on this wall.
Who it's For:
While this is a pro-inspired model, it’s more universal than others. If you’re looking for an energy filled powder ski with sick graphics, this is the place to be.

Overview:
The Line Bacon 115 is a wide-bodied twin tip that, if it weren’t for the 122, would be a pure powder ski with tons of playfulness built in. The Bacon series has been well-known and loved for years, and the 115 now sits as the mid-range ski in the line. Built with an aspen and maple wood core, we get a flexible, sturdy, and energetic feel. While the skis are a bit hefty, they certainly have a playful and smeary attitude. They also get a symmetrical rocker profile and a 5 mm drop in overall tip to tail width, making these skis well balanced and freestyle focused. With a 16.2-meter turn radius in the 178, these skis can easily be bent to a shorter arc, or run straight and true to the skier’s whim. Ideally suited to fresh snow and fun terrain, the Bacon 115 is a fat twin tip with fun on the mind.
Who it's For:
Built mainly for Line’s progressive athletes, the Bacon 115 is an ideal choice for those in the backcountry or deep resort days looking to be at their most creative and ridiculous.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 183 cm | 18 m @ 183 cm | 141 / 121 / 137 mm | 1,807 g @ 183 cm | Freestyle, Powder, Smearing |
Overview:
As the wider of Sammy Carlson’s Whitewalker series, the 121 is a very interesting and unique ski. While Armada experimented with edgeless park skis a few years ago, it never really took hold. This is the powder continuation of that, however, as the Whitewalker 121 takes Smear Tech one step further to Swivel Tech. By extending the beveled portions of the bases well into the middle half of the ski, the shorter edges promote easy and hook-free flotation with unlimited creative feel. Since it’s a pro model, we’re pretty limited on sizing, as in, it comes in a 183 and that’s it. In that size, we’re getting a playful 18-meter turn radius, and a 4 mm drop in tip to tail taper, giving the ski a balanced freestyle feel. If you are in very deep snow and want to be the most creative you can possibly be, you’ll need something like a Whitewalker 121.
Who it's For:
It’s for Sammy. On a powder day. In Japan or someplace like that. If you’re in the rare situation where this is a normal occurrence, and you’re an extremely talented skier, this ski is a perfect match.

| 178, 185 cm | 19 m @ 185 cm | 153 / 122 / 145 mm | 2,088 g @ 185 cm | Flotation, Mobility, Fun |
Overview:
A fat twin tip with fat in the name, the Line Bacon 122 is the favorite powder ski of athletes Tom Wallisch, Dylan Siggers, and Will Wesson. Built with a blend of aspen and paulownia, lighter weight is an emphasis here, as anything heavier would decrease the playful character of the ski. We also get a bit wider of a turn shape in this ski to go along with a symmetrical rocker profile for easy switch landings in deep snow. There’s an 8 mm drop in tip to tail width here, which is pretty interesting as it leads to a slightly more directional shape overall. This pairs well with a –3 cm mount point from center, keeping freestyle creativity and pure flotation as high priorities for the Bacon 122 and its intrepid pilots. Lighter than you may think, the Bacon 122 is a surfy and playful option that likely will not ever sink.
Who it's For:
Fun-loving freestyle-oriented skiers looking for a wide, balanced, and light twin tip for bottomless snow.

Overview:
The Liberty Genome falls into the category of somewhat obscene and ludicrous when it comes to shape and width. At 141 mm underfoot, it’s the widest ski on this wall by far. When we talk about skis that are a lot like “waterskis,” this is what they’re talking about. You could easily tow these behind a boat and probably do pretty well. With gratuitous rocker and taper, these skis have a singular mindset, and it’s all about deep pow. Built with a blend of bamboo and poplar, the skis also feature a traxial braided carbon fiberglass laminate to give the ski some response and power. The ski needs a bit of lightness due to the overall mass and volume, so they do a nice job keeping the weight down through these materials. Even so, they’re not terribly light, with the 187’s stated weight at 2400 grams per ski.
Who it's For:
Powder hounds, heli guides, and cat trip frequenters who need the absolute widest ski on the market.

Overview:
The Blaze 114 gets a graphic update for 2026 but returns as one of the more capable and peppy skis on this wall. They take the good parts of the Blaze 104 and add some width to the mix in order to create a mobile floater that can be used as a touring ski if you so choose. In 184, we’re a bit south of 2000 grams, so there’s some sturdiness here, but overall, it works great for resort, side, and backcountry adventures. Built with a hybrid wood core to keep it light, and Volkl’s 3D Radius accompanies its flatter overall rocker profile. Volkl also uses their suspension tips and tails to keep vibrations at a minimum. These are great floaters, but they are also precise and solid enough to handle non-powder conditions, including some softer groomers.
Who it's For:
This is a versatile ski for versatile skiers. You are aiming to spend most of your time in deep snow but also understand that it’s not like that all the time.

Overview:
Light, drifty, and incredibly fun to use, the Salomon QST X is a carryover model for 2026, with the same build, shape, and profile as last year. Built with a light core consisting of poplar and caruba, the skis get carbon and flax fibers for energy and cork damplifiers for smoothness. The skis create a light and swishy feel in softer snow while the grip is actually pretty decent. The rocker profile is long and generous, making these skis super surfy and easy to maneuver in tight spaces. While the lighter weight and more zippy nature works great in those technical zones, there is a bit of a ceiling when it comes to high-speed stability if the snow is not 100% fresh and clean. That said, it’s very capable and confident when it comes to trees and provides an insanely clean feeling with minimal chatter. The vibes here are all good.
Who it's For:
Skiers looking for a drifty and smeary tree ski for places that get a lot of snow (Alta, Snowbird) will love the performance here.

Overview:
The Line Pescado returns unchanged for this year, bringing with it a unique, interesting, and fun shape that’s reminiscent of shorter fish-style snowboards. With a split tail, light weight, and a directional style, this is a mix of skis and surfboards for the deepest and freshest snow on the planet. Available in a 180 cm length and built with a paulownia wood core, these are very rare and singular skis that function well in powder, making clean and round turns with endless smoothness and predictability. With a more rearward stance at –8cm, these skis are directional pow skis and proud of it. The tails are supposed to ride back and keep the shovels out of the snow to promote a classic floating feeling. Say what you will about the funky design here, the Pescado is built and shaped to float and be smooth about it.
Who it's For:
Powder dedicated skiers who want something interesting and unique. These can still make a turn out of the powder, but they don’t bring a ton of stability or power with them.

Overview:
Unchanged for 2026, the Fischer Ranger 116 is a wide, spoony ski that has a lot of flex and rocker for a directional ski. This is a good mix for skiers who are looking to have that more classic feel but in a more playful shape and build. We get a beech and poplar wood core in this ski to go along with thier shaped Ti metal laminate. This allows for nice grip underfoot with a smooth feel while keeping the ski nice and flexible in both tips and tails. There’s a lot more rocker in this ski than in the narrower versions of the Ranger, as this one stands more by itself when it comes to the profile and soft snow preference. So we get a freeride and freestyle type of flex with a directional and more classic shape, and that makes for an interesting combination. The 187 produces a 20-meter turn radius but like other Ranger skis, it seems to want to go a bit shorter than that as it is very flexy.
Who it's For:
Directional powder skiers who are looking for something sturdy yet flexible. This is a relatively easy powder ski based on smoothness and accessibility.

Overview:
As the widest of the Maverick series, the 115 CTi uses the same construction as the narrower versions, with a wider and more powder-focused shape. Built with a poplar wood core with ash, the skis also use a mix of carbon stringers and titanal to steady and energize the snow feel. They also include Atomic’s HRZN Tech int he shovels to deliver more flotation without adding width. The 115 CTi is not technically a pro model, but it was designed in collaboration with Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, Craig Murray, and Daron Rahlves, so there’s a lot of high-end pedigrees to accompany this ski. It’s more directional than many others here, and does a great job at cutting through crud, chop, and adversity as well as staying afloat among soft and deep snow. If you don’t need the creativity and flex of a Bent Chetler 120, this is a fantastic addition within the Atomic line.

Directional powder skiers who like the feel of a traditional ski with good energy.

Overview:
The Lotus collection from DPS takes their normally amazing powder focus and puts it into overdrive. The Lotus 117 is an interesting ski because it features a slightly different shape and construction than the more prevalent Wailer, Kaizen, or Koala series. Built with a poplar wood core and two sheets of carbon, the Lotus gets the full carbon construction with a bit lighter weight core. Amazingly, the 117 is the narrower of the group, with the 124 (which we do not stock) as the true wide-bodied performer. The 117, though, does a great job at staying afloat and delivering a smoother and more composed character when compared to the shorter turning Kaizen 112. The Lotus 117 features a 21-meter turn radius in all lengths but keeps the weight to around 2000 grams. They still use a ton of rocker and taper but have a slightly stiffer and more responsive flex due to the carbon.
Who it's For:
Powder enthusiasts who are looking for more of a peppy directional feel. You want support and bounce from your powder skis.

Overview:
Built with an aspen and paulownia wood core, the plus-sized K2 Crescendo is ready to tackle any heli or cat skiing adventures you can find. This is a very specific powder ski with deep snow applications. K2 adds their Carbon Boost Braid to the mix to stiffen the ski and make it more energetic, but overall, the width and surface area of this ski are the big stories here. With a medium flex and a long and dramatic rocker profile, these skis are built with the singular aspect of flotation in mind. There’s a good amount of taper in the tail which makes it easy to exit turns and the flatter profile cuts through fresh snow with ease and fluidity. At 132 mm underfoot, it’s amazingly not the widest ski on this wall but it’ll do just fine when encountering the deepest snow on the planet.

Overview:
The Volkl Revolt 121 gets a new paint job for 2026 but remains one of the more outrageously shaped and profiled skis on the market today. By following the Revolt 104 style, the taper and rocker of the ski are dramatic in order to produce a playful, freestyle-inspired performance that holds up to strong and technical skiers. By all means, it’s certainly a twin tip, but the shape of the ski is such that flotation, drifting, and surfing is at the forefront of the ski’s priority list. It’s also on the heftier side, as most Revolts are, and that makes sense when we consider the high-performance potential here. That said, just because the ski can be used aggressively and creatively doesn’t mean that it has to go that way only—it’s actually on the accessible side due to the crazy taper. This is a top ski to have when you’re on top of a distant mountain peak as it begs for creativity and speed at the same time.
Who it's For:
There’s a big range here, spanning from progressing powder skiers all the way up to top freestyle and big mountain athletes. You do have to know what you’re getting into from a shape perspective, as it is pretty wild.

| 176, 186 cm | 25 m @ 186 cm | 146 / 118 / 141 mm | 2,471 g @ 186 cm | Strength, Power, Might |
Overview:
As one of the densest and heaviest skis on this list, the Rossignol Sender Free 118 is a strong and stable twin tip that can really plow through anything. The heft offsets the playful shape and basically makes this ski a hard-charging aggressive twin that has no performance limits. It’s got a floaty width and style, but it still has a hard time staying on top of drier or deeper snow mainly due to the weight. That said, if you need a ski to take you from the top to bottom with speed and magnitude, this is a very good choice. Built with a poplar core, metal underfoot, and diagofiber to strengthen the flex, these skis are poised and ready to crush crud, bash through bumps, and take on cliffs and drops with ease. The 186 produces a 25-meter turn radius that keeps you in the fall line while if you get back on trail, you will be fully supported by the strength and power of the ski’s mass.

Overview:
You could certainly make the argument that this is a more demanding powder ski than the next two, mostly due to the more classic and traditional shape and profile. We also get a nearly full sheet of titanal here, adding to the rugged nature of the ski. With a long camber profile giving us a long effective edge, this ski likes to track through crud, chop, and adverse conditions and terrain. While it’s not a great floater for most skiers, it’ll work just fine on the feet of more advanced and skilled skiers. Since it’s a pretty true twin tip, the skis do fare well in a freestyle application, although it’s certainly far from a pure park ski. When engaged, this Unleashed 114 holds an edge quite well, but it does take a decent amount of edge angle and strength to handle it all day long.

Overview:
Stiff, strong, and ready to roll, the Volkl Revolt 114 is a big mountain freeride ski that can handle quite a bit of adversity. It’s got a flatter tail so it cuts through crud and chop and a wider shovel so it does stay afloat. With a thicker wood core, it’s stiff and somewhat heavy, but that means strong performance in non-groomed terrain as well as remarkably compliant groomer capacity. Built with a blend of poplar and beech in the wood core, the thickness is the big story here as the ski’s got a chunky and dense feel. While it’s not as smeary or drifty as some of the other skis here, it’s a great option for strong and aggressive skiers who want to make the most out of the vertical descent. These skis rip long turns at high speeds and can hold a strong edge on firmer snow when needed.
Who it's For:
Athletic skiers who like the classic feel of a full wood core ski. You want strength and responsiveness and aren’t particularly interested in pure powder flotation.

| 180, 190 cm | 22.3 m @ 190 cm | 150 / 120 / 139 mm | 2,171 g @ 190 cm | Flotation, Speed, Confidence |
Overview:
As a new ski for 2026, and perhaps the way forward for the Unleashed series, the wide 120 is an aggressive big mountain freeride ski with a bit less of a twin tip style than the narrower Unleashed skis. The construction is mostly the same with a few tweaks. We get the same light performance wood core, but instead of terrain specific metal, we get a lengthwise titanal band that runs slightly wider than the binding mount zone. This provides stability and damping at speed without making the ski overly burdensome. There is more taper and rocker than in the other Unleashed as well, so this ski does a better job at drifting, floating, and smearing than the others, and it stands out in this segment as well as being a high-powered ski for open zones and top speeds. In the 190, we get a 22-meter turn radius and a robust sidecut for long turns and deep snow.
Who it's For:
This is an athlete-driven ski, and as such has a fairly high-performance level. You should be a strong and aggressive skier to fully appreciate all that the new Unleashed 120 can do.
