What a blend of edge grip and playfulness. These things are the total package as far as an eastern all-mountain ski is concerned. Why there aren't more of these out on the hill, I do not understand. They fly under the radar and do not get the credit they deserve. It's always interesting seeing what skis get the proper press and accolades and why. The Fischer Ranger 92 Ti returns unchanged for 2021, and skiers should be thrilled about that. Built just like the 99 and 107, but with width-appropriate rocker and taper, the 92 Ti represents the best option for firmer snow and quicker turns. The wood core is bolstered by metal plate underfoot that transitions to carbon in the tips. This makes for a smooth and strong flex while keeping the tips easy to maneuver and floatier than their width may indicate. The light weight of the tips is another factor that adds to the flotation, as they prefer to rise to the top of the snow rather than dive to reach firmer surfaces. There are a lot of ~90/92's out there that prefer this diving method, but the Ranger is not one of them. Solid in the middle and snappy in the tail, these skis know how to finish a turn. Overall, our testers love the ease of use and the high-performance ceiling of the Ranger 92 Ti.

Jeff Neagle skied the 178, and with the exception of a 3 for flotation, all of his other scores were 4's and 5's, showing the strong all-around performance of the ski. He has some nice things to say about it as well. "The Ranger 92 Ti is a fantastic all-mountain ski. You don't see many of them on the hill, which is kind of surprising once you ski it. A ton of people would enjoy this ski. It's relatively quick edge to edge on groomers, it's energetic, responsive, and fun. It has plenty of edge grip and plenty of stability at speed, while the tip shape gives it a more versatile feel than most skis that achieve a similar level of performance. Fischer's construction gives their skis a lighter swing weight feel than most competitors, which makes them more versatile, more forgiving, and overall, less fatiguing when you want to take them into more technical terrain or softer snow conditions. I really feel like a wide range of skiers will enjoy these. An expert will appreciate how hard they can ski them and the fact you can take them anywhere on the mountain, but I think even an intermediate, albeit an athletic intermediate, would like them a lot too. I don't think it's too much ski for that application."

Also on the 178, Bob St.Pierre noted that he could have gone for the 185 for sure, in fact, he states that he "wishes the ski came in the longer length like the wider Rangers, but oh well, that's life for a taller tester." Regardless, he notes that the ski had that "total package as far as an eastern advanced one-ski quiver category is concerned." Scores of 5's out of 5 for quickness, maneuverability, and playfulness were not out of the ordinary for other testers either. Bob "loved the quickness and stability combo and the skis had a very natural and rugged nature about them." He also goes on to state that the Ranger 92 Ti is a "perfect Stowe ski." We get a lot of smaller snowfalls here, so the ski would have that nice blend of width and power to handle all of those conditions, and they'd excel in the tight trees and bumps that we find ourselves in most of the time as well.

Skiers looking for that sleeper ski that doesn't quite pop up in all the magazine covers should definitely check this thing out. When advising skiers on what ski to get, if this happens to be on any of their lists, I'll usually tell them to get this one-it's just a great all-around ski for most, if not all, conditions that you find day to day on the ski mountain.
