The 2021 K2 Disruption MTi is a fantastic new offering this year that fills a nice void for skiers looking for a narrow carving ski without having to tap into the race ski market. Built with K2's titanal I-Beam technology and Dark Matter Damping, the skis get their smoothness and strength. The metal laminate is partial, offering a different feel from the more race-oriented skis out there on the market. The damping system makes the ski vibrate a lot less, allowing you to have more control and precision over the skis, especially in the forebody and through the tail. Whether you're using these for a front side carver or a ski bum race series, the K2 Disruption MTi is a fantastic choice for the advanced and expert level skier. You definitely have to watch that waist width, though, as 72 mm underfoot is very narrow. It borders on hockey-skate width, so it does require a pretty precise balance point on the part of the pilot. They're impossibly quick from edge to edge, but they don't feel or behave like light weight skis. Rather, the combination of strength and speed is quite impressive, and skiers will love the overall power and precision of the all-new K2 Disruption MTi.

Jeff Neagle got to ski them earlier this past summer, and ended up getting a pair for himself. He used them a few times just free skiing at Stowe, and then went on to use them in the local Ski Bum race series, even placing top three amongst a very competitive field. So, they have some chops for sure. On the 175, Jeff notes that "the older I get, the more I like spending time on skis like this. That makes it sound like it's a ski for old dudes, but what I mean is I'm learning that I can have just as much fun laying over carves on corduroy as I can jumping off stuff and sliding metal rails that ruin my skis. Over the past few years, I've been having a blast on frontside carvers, and the MTI is one of my favorites. It has everything I look for in a ski like this. It's precise, it's quick edge to edge, it's very powerful, and it has tremendous edge grip. As a bonus, it's one of the smoothest in this category, while also being a little bit more forgiving (emphasis on "little" because realistically nothing this powerful is particularly forgiving). I find I have an easier time manipulating carving turn shape and radius on these than most frontside skis. I often wonder if that's because the metal doesn't extend to the edges in the tips and tails, or if it's due to a slightly softer flex pattern, but truthfully, I don't care what the reason is, just that I can do it. I like it so much I got a pair and it's become my Tuesday morning beer league/ski bum race ski! Look out ex-racers, this park skier is coming for you on these blacked out, rippin' skis."

Bob St.Pierre got to ski the 180 and even while that's the longest length available, it still didn't quite feel long enough, especially after skiing the 185 in the wider Disruption 82 Ti. Even so, very quick on the feet, with quickness and maneuverability earning 5's out of 5. Torsional stiffness and edge hold were also in the 5 range, showing that the ski is truly built for harder snow and precise turns. Bob notes that "the Disruption MTi is incredibly quick and maneuverable-that's no surprise, but the thing that stands out the most is the stability. You can really push it hard; you just have to be ready for some serious rebound out of the turn. Even though it's not built like a race ski, it sure performs like one."

Front side carving enthusiasts and skiers who want that race-like performance without the race build will love the new Disruption MTi from K2. There's a lot to like about these hard-snow chargers, so if you're in the market for a narrow ski that carves like the dickens, this is the ski for you.
