The Salomon Assassin is a high-performance snowboard designed for riders who want to charge hard and leave deep tracks in your wake. The most highly versatile, freestyle focused board, the Assassin speaks for itself-ready to annihilate any terrain or conditions that dare to confront it. Featuring a rock out camber profile that provides the perfect mix of grip and stability, and the directional twin shape, you truly achieve a perfect balance between a progressive powder board and a freestyle extraordinaire. Delivering explosive power and unmatched carving abilities, the quadralizer sidecut ensures quick and precise turning, perfect for on-piste performance and top speed domination. When the conditions allow, pillow popping hits and cliff drops will be a breeze, thanks to the aspen select and Popster Eco Booster core. JG tested the Assassin in a 155 length and while it was a longer size for him personally, he found it to be manageable. That said, he thinks that one size down would be more fun. As for his takeaways, we see 3’s across the board, as well as for his overall impression. A very middle of the road score for every category, he found that “the board was easy to jump on and rip around. Nice blend of flex, sidecut and shape. Nice light weight feeling to it. I really like how it rode switch and handled the chopped-up snow conditions. Not a lot of high ratings, yet this was board #1 today on my list.” While a mediocre score in each category may come off as being negative, it speaks to a well-rounded experience and overall impression. Not to mention this board was JG’s first board of the day which is always tough to review before testing other boards. Based on JG’s extensive experience, the fact that he scored 3s across the board means it is sufficient in every category and speaks to its versatility and capabilities as an all-mountain freeride board.

Andy Hull tested the next size up from JG’s 155 and found the 159 to be just right, though he would probably size up to the 162 for himself. According to his scores, he, like JG, found consistency across the board, further proving that the Assassin has a range of capabilities and strengths. With 4’s awarded to flotation, stability, quickness, playfulness, torsional stiffness, versatility, and overall impression, it’s safe to say that Andy was impressed with the board’s performance. With a 3 for forgiveness, it’s not surprising that this board lacks slightly in at least one area. That said, he found it to be a “great all mountain board for intermediate to advanced riders. Directional twin was true to its characteristics, was stable both regular and switch at any speed. Enough flex to make it playful and the float would be there in powder.”

The Salomon Assassin boasts versatility and freestyle performance while remaining stable and strong in all conditions. Truly capable of whatever comes its way, its ninja-like skillset allows for confidence-building control and technique while guaranteeing fun across the entire mountain.
