THE SKIESSENTIALS.COM BARGAIN BASEMENT: FALL 2022 EDITION - 17 OF OUR CURRENT BEST DEALS ON 2022 SKIS

NOVEMBER 1, 2022 | WRITTEN BY Matt McGinnis

It’s time to do a Fall edition of our Bargain Basement Series, and this list is just so impressive with what you can get combined with the price and value associated. Keep in mind that any additional sales that we run sweeten the deals even further, and when you add that to our loyalty points program and the fact that we offer free domestic ground shipping and free mounting, these prices just can’t be beat. These aren’t just cheap skis, either, these are premium products and modern skis that we’d ski pretty much every single day.

2022 Dynastar M-Pro 90 W Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

154, 162, 170 cm

13 m at 162 cm

118 / 88 / 108 mm

Why We Like It:

A complete and total steal at under $360, the 2022 Dynastar M-Pro 90W is an all-mountain killer that has a strong tail and a versatile shovel. Ideally suited for most on-trail activities and with a penchant for trees and bumps, the M-Pro 90W is a great option for advanced and expert skiers looking for a highly useful ski for true all-mountain skiing. There is no structural difference between this ski, the men’s M-Pro 90, or the 2023 versions of the same ski, it’s just a graphics update, so you’re getting all the technology at almost half the price.

Price: $359.95

2022 Dynastar M-Pro 90 Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

162, 170, 178, 186 cm

18 m at 178 cm

120 / 90 / 110 mm

Why We Like It:

Ditto to everything that was said above. Advanced and expert skiers looking for a strong on-trail ski with a wicked kick at the end will love the blend of poplar and polyurethane in the hybrid core to go along with the rocket frame metal laminate. Smooth, stable, and incredibly grippy, the 2022 M-Pro 90 is a true all-mountain ski at a very good price.

Price: $359.95

2022 Dynastar M-Pro 99 Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

162, 170, 178, 186 cm

20 m at 178 cm

127 / 99 / 117 mm

Why We Like It:

Mostly ditto again. The 2022 Dynastar M-Pro 99 is simply a wider version of the 90, built with the same hybrid core and metal laminate. We bump up a bit in price to just under $420, but with that you’re getting a more versatile ski that is one of the better tree skis I’ve been on in a while, while still being able to absolutely rail turns on the groomers. It’s one of the best mixes of attributes that I’ve seen in a ski, and a lot of that has to do with the longer turn radius and straighter shape leading to a more traditional feel that loves skier input. Only graphic changes for 2023.

Price: $419.95

2022 Salomon QST Lux 92 Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

153, 161, 169 cm

17 m at 169 cm

130 / 92 / 113 mm

Why We Like It:

I literally don’t think you can get a better deal out there. The Salomon QST Lux 92 is an amazing ski, and the fact that it’s under $300 is pretty insane. Sure, the updates to the 2023 version speak more to the intended spirit and philosophy of the QST line in terms of playfulness, surfy feel, and flotation, but the 2022 version ain’t too shabby either. This is one of the most well-rounded skis in the industry today—capable of carving quick and clean turns on the groomers while having enough taper and rocker to float easily through softer snow. At $299.95 max, can you afford not to buy it?

Price: $299.95

2022 Salomon QST Lumen 99 Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

153, 159, 167, 174 cm

19 m at 167 cm

134 / 99 / 116 mm

Why We Like It:

Equally as impressive a deal as the 92, the Lumen 99 checks in at only $60 more, and for skiers who are spending a fair amount of time in softer snow and more challenging conditions, I think it makes sense. Similar to the 92, the 99 does not get the elongated rocker profile and shortened radius of the new 2023 version, but it’s still a fantastic ski in a vacuum. There’s a good amount of sturdiness to it due to the build, so advanced and expert skiers who are looking for something smooth, strong, stable, and yet still smeary, the Salomon QST Lumen 99 is a great deal and a phenomenal ski.

Price: $359.95

2022 Salomon Stance 96 Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

168, 176, 182, 188 cm

20 m at 182 cm

132 / 96 / 1145 mm

Why We Like It:

Just like the high-octane Dynastar M-Pro 99, the Salomon Stance 96 provides advanced and expert-level skiers the ability to carve deep trenches in any type of snow while allowing for great float through powder and phenomenal access to crud, wind-buffed, and choppy conditions. This is a true one-ski quiver of the highest order, and the fact that it is under $420 is quite simply shocking. The graphics update for 2023 is almost imperceptible, so you’re pretty much literally getting the same ski for almost $300 less.

Price: $419.95

2022 K2 Mindbender 88 Ti Alliance Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

149, 156, 163, 170 cm

14.7 m at 163 cm

125 / 88 / 112 mm

Why We Like It:

With upgrades to the whole Mindbender Ti line from K2, the 88 Ti almost seems old-fashioned, but the performance and capabilities of this ski, at this price, are still off the charts. Ideally suited for advanced and expert skiers who are looking for power, precision, and versatility, the 2022 K2 Mindbender 88 Ti W is a sharp-looking and skiing ski that is equally at home both on and off-trail. Skiers love the use of metal in this one, putting emphasis on the edges in the forebody and underfoot while keeping the tail smooth, stable, and damp. At under $400, you’re getting a top-of-the-line product at almost half-price.

Price: $389.95

2022 K2 Mindbender 99 Ti Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

170, 177, 184, 191 cm

18.5 m at 184 cm

138 / 99 / 123 mm

Why We Like It:

I’m just not sure why we haven’t sold more of these. Skiers looking for that Enforcer-like feel and performance but with a more directional feel should flock to the K2 Mindbender 99 Ti. While the 2023 version does take the ski to the next level in terms of freeride performance, edge grip, and sophistication, the 2022 99 Ti is still one of the most Cadillac-esque skis I’ve been on. Marked at just under $420, that’s a whole lot of ski for a pittance of price. If you’re looking for endless stability and smoothness in a wider-bodied format, look no further than the deal on this ski.

Price: $419.95

2022 K2 Mindbender 108 Ti Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

172, 179, 186, 193 cm

22.9 m at 186 cm

136 / 108 / 125 mm

Why We Like It:

At $30 more than the narrower 99 Ti, the Mindbender 108 Ti features longer rocker, more mass, and a wider shape for better flotation. This is a great floater, but it always stuck out to us as one of the more responsive skis at this width, and that’s mainly due to the titanal Y-Beam shape that makes it pretty reactive in the shovel. If you like a ski that takes your input and provides almost instant feedback, this is one of the better wide options for sure. It’s not quite as fun-loving as the 2023 version, but if you’ve never been on either, I don’t think it’d make much of a difference.

Price: $449.95

2022 Elan Ripstick 88 Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

164, 172, 180, 188 cm

15.4 m at 172 cm

130 / 88 / 105 mm

Why We Like It:

It’s impressive how Elan makes a ski this light work so darn well for so many skiers. You can quite literally save $200 just by opting for last year’s graphics—the skis are structural twins. They still have the essential carbon rods that create such an inviting atmosphere for skiers to explore different edge angles and varying speeds. The Ripstick 88 is so versatile and well-rounded for so many skiers. Even larger skiers will find stability and energy despite the light weight, and that’s a huge plus when it comes to all-day energy and fun-loving skiing.

Price: $449.99

2022 Elan Ripstick 96 Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

164, 172, 180, 188 cm

18 m at 180 cm

136 / 96 / 110 mm

Why We Like It:

Bump the price $40 and you’re getting a wider version of the 88. Still the same ski as the 2023, the Ripstick 96 falls more into the one-ski quiver category, just kind of a lighter version of what we’ve seen with Stance 96 and M-Pro 99. If you spend a good amount of time in the woods as well as the groomers, the 96-mm Ripstick is likely a better choice for you. Very impressive what they do with carbon in these skis, and as they’re asymmetrical in nature, the engineers are able to take a lot of liberty in the design and implementation of different materials in order to create a unique feel and character.

Price: $487.49

2022 Elan Ripstick 106 Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

164, 172, 180, 188 cm

18.1 m at 180 cm

143 / 106 / 120 mm

Why We Like It:

$40 more dollars and you’re all the way up to 106 mm wide in the Ripstick. This makes a great complement to the narrower skis on your list, but really is also one of the better on-trail 106’s out there. The older paint job saves you almost $225 allowing you to widely spend your hard-earned money on something else that you’d really like. You can almost get a 2022 Ripstick 106 and a QST Lux 92 for the price of a 2023 Ripstick 106.

2022 Blizzard Bonafide 97 Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

165, 171, 177, 183, 189 cm

17 m at 177 cm

136 / 97 / 118 mm

Why We Like It:

Sure, the price jumps a bit to almost $600, but when you factor in any discounts or loyalty points that we offer, that takes the price of this premium ski down just enough to make it seem quite cheap. The most amazing thing about these last few skis, as well as the other top-flight products in this series, is that these are some of the highest-performing skis on the market today, and in a world where new 2023 skis are commanding well over $1000, taking that down to the $500-600 level while providing the same level of performance makes a huge difference. This is the slightly heavier and Bonafide 97, with the 2023 dropping a few grams and making it a bit more accessible and slightly floatier. There’s a bit less tip rocker in the 2022 version, making it slightly more on-trail oriented. If you’re searching for never-ending power, the Bonafide 97 is the place to be.

2022 Atomic Maverick 100 Ti Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

172, 180, 188 cm

19.2 m at 180 cm

130 / 100 / 120 mm

Why We Like It:

Super-light and poppy for having two sheets of metal, the Atomic Maverick 100 Ti is an awesome choice for aggressive experts and strong skiers who are looking for race-like feel in a modern freeride shape. The thinness of the ski is a huge reason for its success in these areas, as it allows Atomic to really eliminate any unnecessary material in the construction process. What you’re left with is a grippy, energetic, and versatile ski at a wonderful price. $450 is not a lot of money at all when you consider the overall quality and composure of the Maverick 100 Ti. The only changes for 2023 are the graphics, so you’re getting the same ski for $300 less.

Price: $449.95

2022 Armada Declivity 102 Ti Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

172, 180, 188 cm

18 m at 180 cm

135 / 102 / 125 mm

Why We Like It:

While the Atomic is more of that quick and slippery ski, the Armada Declivity 102 is slightly more thundering. This is a power boat of a ski that will plow through anything that’s put in front of it. These Declivity Ti skis in general are known for their dampness and silence underfoot, and skiers who love to point and shoot down the fall line will really love the composure and poise of the Declivity 102 Ti. Like the Atomic, we’re looking at about a $350 difference just due to the paint job between the 2022 and 2023 model.

Price: $449.95

2022 Rossignol BLACKOPS Sender Ti Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

180, 187, 194 cm

21 m at 187 cm

138 / 106 / 128 mm

Why We Like It:

If you want to pay for a re-branding of a ski, by all means, go right for it. For all others, you’re getting a 2023 Rossignol Sender 106 Ti Plus but with an older graphic. By consolidating their lines, Rossignol did some re-branding and re-naming of their Blackops/Sender lines, but kept the construction and shaping the same. That’s great news, because these Sender Ti’s are fantastic directional skis. We’ve loved them every time we’ve been on them, from the metal underfoot to the carbon alloy matrix, the Sender Ti is a smooth and strong operator that charges really hard on a variety of conditions and terrain. If you go for the re-brand, you’re spending $370 for a new name and graphic. If that’s worth it to you, we’re not here to stop you!

2022 Fischer Ranger 115 Skis

AVAILABLE SIZES

TURN RADIUS

SIDECUT

172, 180, 188, 196 cm

20 m at 188 cm

144 / 115 / 134 mm

Why We Like It:

If these were pink, they’d be gone. Since they’re highlighter yellow and 115 mm underfoot and only available in a 196 cm length, we still have a rack. Still, for the price and capabilities of the Ranger 115 FR, this is a smoking deal. Some big-mountain enthusiast who loved the carbon nose and wicked rockered shape of the outgoing 115 FR will scoop this deal right up. You will likely not need another powder ski for quite some time. If you’re looking to truly round out your quiver, and are looking for that long length in a fat ski, the Ranger 115 FR definitely needs a spot in your ski wall.

Price: $539.99
