2027 Men's Mid 90 mm All Mountain Ski Comparison
The mid-90's All-Mountain ski category brings some heat and heft to an already well-versed group of skis. It doesn’t take long to find metal-clad skis on this list. While some at the start focus more on carbon and partial layers of titanal, it’s a quick move to dual-metal and sturdy builds with more front side shaping principles. For the bulk of the skis in this range, versatility and playfulness comes with the cost of effort, especially as we get heavier and more angular. That said, if you are the type of skier who thrives in the face of adversity and enjoys the thrill of a high-impact carved turn, there are plenty of skis in this category for you.

Overview:
With a lighthearted energy to go along with a fun spirit in both on and off-trail situations, the Volkl Blaze 94 is incredibly versatile and friendly. Built with a hybrid core consisting of lighter wood and a metal plate underfoot, the Blaze 94 has great grip and energy. We also get damping portions in the tips and tails to keep the ski from chattering away, and it works great at maintaining composure and boosting confidence in all sorts of conditions and terrain. The flatter profile keeps the ski swishy and mobile and adds to the 4 Radius Drive’s efficiency. There’s a lot of tech and sophistication here with these skis as they punch above their stated level with relative ease. This ski works great in the bumps and trees and even offers a backcountry option with a lighter weight and skin points in the tails.

This is a good ski for those who don’t want to fight too hard to get an energetic turn feel. You like shorter turns but also want to let it run from time to time.

The Ripstick 96 Black Edition offers a lot of pep and energy in an all-mountain format but keeps things light and approachable for progressing intermediates through lighter expert skiers. You can feel the technology and innovation here through the sophistication in the construction but at the same time they’re still very light and extremely forgiving, especially in the shovel. With Quad Rod technology, we’re getting two more carbon tubes located in the center of the forebody and aft zones. This creates a smoother and damper feel when the ski is under pressure and allows for increased energy and rebound in the finish phase of the turn. With an additional carbon laminate on the top of the core, these skis are packed with light and zippy carbon to create an approachable yet high-performance vibe.

Overview:
With a sophisticated build and a more flexible feel than you may think, the DPS Pisteworks 94 is an incredibly fun ski that has a lot to offer an all-mountain skier who wants something out of the box. Built with two horizontal wood core layers—one poplar and the other Red Oak—the Pisteworks 94 also uses two full sheets of carbon and one carbon power plate in the underfoot zone. This sophisticated build allows for a crazy mix of energy and power—two things that don’t always go together all that well. The thinness of the core profile makes the ski incredibly easy to use in an off-piste and mogul setting—these skis are absolutely dynamite in the trees and make everything seem just so easy while having a super high-performance ceiling. You do pay for that with the price of the ski, but there’s no denying that the performance and snow feel of the skis is exemplary.

Overview:
As one of the longest-running skis in terms of construction that we currently deal with, the Black Crows Serpo doesn’t have a whole lot of surprises anymore. At the same time, it’s still a totally relevant ski in this category, with fantastic energy and zip in the tail and a more versatile and well-rounded feel than you may expect. We get a poplar wood core with a titanal plate. The tail makes for a fun and peppy feel while the shovel is wide enough to cut right through adversity and keep you on the intended course. This is a great ski with a bunch of electricity. The flatter tail and slightly longer turn radius make for a unique set of characteristics, allowing you to operate with efficiency and zest in a carving format. It doesn’t lose much in the woods or bumps but does feel a bit more directional and intended for on-piste use.

Fun-loving skiers who value energy and versatility. You love the mix of underfoot grip and poppy rebound.

Overview:
With a round-turning mentality and a lot of zip, the Dynastar M-Pro 94 is an incredibly fun and well-rounded ski that’ll satisfy the needs and wants of most all-mountain skiers out there on the hill today. Dynastar uses their Hybrid Core 2.0 with these skis, and those horizontal layers of wood do a lot when it comes to adding energy to the mix. The Polyurethane along the sides smooths out the ride and boosts the accessibility while the metal laminate keeps the central portion of the ski smooth and damp with boosted edge grip and power through the tails. We found that these skis love to make shorter carves but are still amenable to speed and increased aggressiveness. Dynastar’s new graphics should add to the ski’s appeal as the performance is deceptively good.
Who it’s For:
Strong and energetic skiers who are looking for fun and energy. You value versatility in both turn shape and style.

Overview:
The Maverick 96 CTi brings a floaty tip with a very energetic and stable underfoot zone to mix soft and firmer snow performance. The skis are easy to initiate, but then you feel the power of the ash, carbon, and metal combine to create a smooth and steady feel. Don’t let the ease of turn initiation lull you into a false sense of security; these things rip carved turns and can power through crud and chop with ease. They still have a very precise and knife-like feel, just with a bit more forgiveness in the shovel. The thinness of the ski is the main part here, as they are so directly connected to the snow. As a result, the ski feels very strong in longer turns on groomers and rips those turns comfortably at higher speeds. When in trees or other technical zones, the Maverick works great at staying afloat and providing mobile and agile performance.

Precision-oriented skiers who want to add a bit of flotation and ease of use to their all-mountain formats.

Overview:
Loose when you want it and tight when you need it, the Fischer Ranger 96 uses a mix of poplar, beech, and metal to create a mix between playfulness and business-like performance. The shape of the ski, and the lack of metal in the shovels and tails, combine to create this character. The shovels are spoony and quite rockered, so they allow for good flotation and mobility while the beech and the Shaped Titanal layer boost the edge grip and the stiffness, especially in the underfoot zone. The concept here is to have a ski that checks a ton of boxes for a ton of skiers in the attempt to be as inoffensive as possible. In that light, the Ranger certainly succeeds. While it won’t win any specific contests or accolades in terms of performance, its superpower is found in its versatility and well-rounded nature.

Skiers who value a mix of grip and flotation will love the Ranger’s versatility.

Overview:
The Kastle Paragon 93 is a really good time. Similar to the Atomic, you get more of a freeride-inspired shovel with a more business-like mid-section and tail. The build is stronger here, though, and that does add to the demand. Built with Kastle’s Infinicore technology blending thin stringers of poplar, paulownia, and beech, the Paragon gets two sheets of metal to add more power and damping to the mix. It’s really all about the blend of high-octane construction and a creative shovel that makes this ski so fun and interesting. It has that freeride feel to it but it comes in a burly all-mountain build. You can rip huge carved turns on this ski with full confidence and then tighten it up to handle shorter and more technical turns in the trees and bumps. When it comes to versatility and a high-end feel, it’s tough to match the Paragon 93.
Who it’s For:
Aggressive yet playful skiers who love the feeling of metal in a shapelier footprint.

Overview:
Another ski with two sheets of metal and a high-quality feel, the Stockli Stormrider 95 lives in a realm all by itself when it comes to smoothness and silence—there's just nothing that compares to the composure of a Stormrider. At the same time, the shovel is a bit more tapered and flexible to afford for soft snow compliance and off-trail adventure. It’s more at home on a groomer, as its construction is very accepting of a carved turn. One of the best parts is how accessible the ski is at lower speeds for having multiple sheets of metal. It makes quick work of groomers, crud, chop, and wind-buffed snow. The creativity of the ski isn’t quite what we see on some of the shapelier skis on this list, but skiers are here for the traditional and technical feel of the ski rather than any outright playfulness. The square tail sees to that, as it keeps the ski engaged in the turn for a very long time.
Who it’s For:
Skiers who like the feel and character of a luxury sedan in their skis. You want power and comfort all at the same time.

Overview:
With a more traditional shape and style, the Stance Pro 96 returns with favoritism towards longer turns with predictable character. Built with a mix of poplar and caruba, the skis use two sheets of metal and a mixture of carbon and basalt. All of this goes into a pretty straight up shape and style. There are no surprises here. The ski likes to be told what to do, so despite the lighter caruba being used, the skis need some direction, and that puts them on the more demanding half of the field. They work well at whatever they need to do—there's a certain mindlessness to it—but they still need to be told. If you want to rip large carves on them, no problem. Want to tighten it up a bit and throw them sideways in a skid? Also fine. We skied them in powder, crud, chop, trees, bumps—you name it—and as long as the skier is a part of the process, the Stance Pro 96 responds in kind.
Who it’s For:
Active skiers who like a versatile ski with a longer arc. You value energy, stability, power, and predictability all at the same time.

Overview:
The all-new Kastle Sublime 93 stood out to us the moment we got on the ski. With a solid feel and a more playful shape than the other Sublimes, we’ve got an ideal blend of power and creativity here. This ski is a pure all-mountain beast that thrives at high edge angles and at speed. Built with their Twin Core technology, the ski uses larger stringers of poplar and beech to provide a smooth and powerful feel. We also get two sheets of metal to add damping and grip to the mix. The 93, as opposed to the 88 and 83, does have a more flexible nature to it as well as increased rocker and taper. This makes the 93 have more of a versatile feel in the tail and more of a floaty tip to add excitement and adventure to the ski day. At the same time, this ski absolutely 100% rips carved turns on groomers with confidence and poise.

Overview:
The Head Kore 94 returns structurally unchanged this year, bringing an interesting mix of lots of camber and two sheets of metal. This allows the ski to vacillate between energy and damping like no other. The shape keeps the ski interesting, thanks to a spoonier tip and a bit of tail rocker, but the camber really keeps this ski fun and exciting. In addition, Kore uses a blend of caruba and beech in the core—two woods that don’t normally go together, again due to their somewhat opposing natures. These discrepancies actually end up working well, providing skiers with smoothness, damping, energy, and versatility all at the same time. Head uses a ton of technology to make it so, keeping advanced and expert skiers fully engaged in each and every turn that they make on the mountain. They are fun in the bumps, quick in the trees, and totally predictable on groomers, making the Kore 94 Ti a wonderfully engaging all-mountain ski.

Overview:
This new ski from K2 was a winner in our book from the first turn. These Mindbender 96’s immediately showed that they have an awesome blend of performance and power, allowing the skier to keep pushing and pushing with more aggression and confidence. While the stiffness and camber keep them on the more demanding side, they still have some versatility, although it’s been fun to see the difference in this 96 versus the other new Mindbenders. If you are looking for a carver in this line, the 96 is surprisingly more adept than the narrower 88, which has a bit more flex and a flatter profile for increased versatility. The 96 likes medium to long-radius carves and while the width can be helpful in crud and chop, it’s not the easiest ski to use in bumps and trees. The core thickness keeps this ski on the stiffer side of the spectrum.
Who it’s For:
We found this ski to appeal to those who think they’re looking for a Mantra, but in reality, would be better off one notch easier.

Overview:
Amazingly, the Arcade 94 manages to produce an insane amount of carving performance without the dual-metal laminates that dominate this half of the wall. They do it through shape and core thickness. The Arcade 94 is a mid-radius carver in a wider-bodied format. There’s not a whole lot of forgiveness or versatility here, as the ski relies on a directional and traditional style to provide amazing carving performance on all sorts of firm and hard snow. We get a poplar wood core and a titanal beam. There is also line control technology that acts as a third rail or vertical stringer. The core is thick, and that allows for limited flex and instant engagement. With wide shovels and tails, this ski has pure tip to tail edge contact and a short radius. This combination makes them more difficult to ski as you are constantly engaged in a carved turn. Whether or not that sounds like fun is totally up to you!

Overview:
The Blizzard Anomaly 94 is such a fun and sturdy ski. This thing loves to carve long and fast turns, and it would be happy doing that all day, every day. At the same time, it’s impossible to ignore that this ski has some off-trail chops as well. We skied them successfully in spring bumps and in packed out trees. It motors through adversity with no problems whatsoever and feels totally planted and connected to the snow. While playfulness has somewhat left the conversation at this level, it’s fun in a different way. The sophistication of the construction pairs well with the slightly rockered and tapered footprint to provide adventurous skiers with enough mobility to enhance off-piste skiing, but it’s clear that this ski is more of a charger and prefers to be used in that realm. Either way, this ski belongs in the conversation for most powerful and accomplished mid-90's all-mountain skis any day of the week.

Overview:
The Nordica Enforcer 94 returns as a total stalwart in this grouping, offering unflappable performance at any speed and a very unique blend of grip, versatility, and slight freeride competence. Enforcers have always had at least a bit of fun in their shape, even if the construction, weight, and stiffness puts them on the demanding side of the spectrum. Overview:
It’s always tough filling this last spot, and the Enforcer/Mantra/Anomaly trio has occupied this space for a while now. Mantra keeps finding itself here mainly through the use of precision. While the Enforcer may be more powerful, the Mantra is just so darn precise. Skis at 96 mm underfoot really shouldn’t be this precise, but the M7 totally nails it. To get the most out of the ski, you have to be on it and engaged. We see a whole lot of skiers out there just sliding around on an M7, and while they’re having fun, it’s hard to look at that and think that they’ve mastered the ski. The high end here is so incredibly high, and it does take a skilled and strong skier to get all of it. With metal over the edges to go along with beech stringers, there’s so much power at the sides of the ski—it's easy to see where Volkl puts their emphasis. The way the carbon is used with the titanal frame, and how the flat profile allows the 4 Radius Drive to come alive is just crazy engineering and it totally translates to the impact of the ski on snow.
