Midway between all-mountain skis and pure powder skis, Freeride skis comprise a very fun grouping of skis. Skis in this range are generally between 100 mm and 115 mm underfoot with varying levels of taper, rocker, and construction. You can find wide twin tips like a K2 Reckoner 110 or a Line Bacon 108. You can go a bit more aggressive and hard charging with a Nordica Enforcer 104 or a Volkl Mantra 102. Either way, softer snow, powder, crud, chop, trees, and backcountry jumps will be quick work for a Freeride ski. With lighter options like an Elan Ripstick 108 or a Head Kore 105, touring and backcountry access is possible as these skis can be hybrid options for both in and out of bounds skiing. Newcomers like the Atomic Maverick 105 CTi and stalwarts like the Salomon QST Blank will keep you excited and energized about freeride skiing with fantastic flotation and surprising carving power.
